We begin to see versions of this design, known as “Garfield’s Monument,” after President William Garfield was assassinated in 1881. Here’s a RARE, small, graphic, hand embroidered interpretation.

This late Victorian all wool piece may have been used repeatedly as a casket cover, perhaps for a fraternal organization such as the Odd Fellows or the Masons.

Joseph’s Coat (of Many Colors) was a design favored by Mennonite women in Pennsylvania at the end of the 19th century.

This circa 1890 example is distinguished by its subtle colors – most are “gaudier” – and its FINE hand quilting executed at 9 – 10 fine stitches per inch. It has a gorgeous printed back. EXCELLENT, UNUSED CRISP CONDITION.

Also known as “The Aircraft Quilt,” Aeroplane” and “Lucky Lindy.” The image of the plane became wildly popular after Lindbergh’s 1927 Cross-Atlantic Flight. The design for this graphic interpretation was published in the Kansas City Star (newspaper) in 1929.

In EXCELLENT CONDITION, this measures 66 x 76 inches – a good size for hanging. Quilt was made circa 1930 and is densely hand quilted.

We love the “rectangular” quality of this 1930s example, which has a lively blue set, and fine hand applique and embroidery work throughout.

An exceptionally rare and graphic presentation of the Feathered Star design. The green and white “harlequin” ground here is something we have not seen before, and sets off the central red Star beautifully.

Hand quilted at 8 stitches per inch in tiny, dense “hanging diamonds.” Triple borders of printed cottons, and a separately applied solid Turkey red cotton binding.

A lovely Christmas quilt made over 100 years ago. The nine blocks of hand appliquéd Poinsettia-type flowers with swirling vines and buds surrounded by sparkly Diamond Borders. Finished with a separately applied red cotton binding.

The hand quilting give a wonderful texture to this charming piece ~ quilting designs include gorgeous, dense undulating feathers in the white borders.

The quilt has a charming inscription: either the quilt maker's name or perhaps "Sarah B" was the lucky recipient of this as a gift. EXCELLENT CONDITION ~ recently professionally washed.
